Terms of Use
1. About these terms
These terms apply to anyone who uses the Haskap Learning website or our services: Home Learning, tutoring and remediation, cognitive profiling, and training for schools. By using our website, or by enrolling a child with us, you agree to them.
If you enrol a child, you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian, or are authorised by them, and that you are at least 18. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and forms part of these terms.
In these terms, “Haskap”, “we” and “us” mean Haskap Learning; “you” means the parent, guardian or school using our services; and “your child” means the learner we support.
2. Using our website
- You may use our website to learn about our services, contact us and read our resources, for your own personal or school use.
- Please do not copy, sell or republish our content, interfere with how the site works, or send anything harmful, false or unlawful through our forms.
- The 2-minute check and our articles give general guidance only. They are a starting point, not a diagnosis or professional advice, and do not replace advice from your child’s doctor or other specialists.
- We work to keep the website accurate and available, but we cannot promise it will always be error-free or uninterrupted.
- Links to other websites, such as the student login for our Home Learning platform, are provided for convenience. Those sites have their own terms and privacy policies.
3. Our services and enrolment
- Consultations. A first consultation is free and carries no obligation.
- Enrolment. Your child is enrolled once we have agreed the service, schedule and fees with you in writing (WhatsApp or email counts) and received the first payment.
- One-to-one support. All lessons are one-to-one. We match your child with a suitable tutor and agree two or three clear goals with you before we start.
- Tutor changes. We aim to keep the same tutor throughout. If a change is needed, for example because a tutor leaves or the match is not working, we will tell you and arrange a suitable replacement.
- Progress. We share regular updates and monthly progress reports. Every child learns differently, so we cannot guarantee specific grades or exam results, but we commit to clear goals, honest reporting and a plan to adjust if progress stalls.
- Cognitive profiling is an educational assessment of how your child learns. It is not a medical or clinical diagnosis.
- Schools. Training for schools is provided under a separate written proposal, which sets out its content, dates and fees.
4. Fees, payment, cancellations and rescheduling
- Fees. Fees are agreed with you before enrolment and shown on your invoice. We review fees once a year and give at least one month’s notice of any change.
- Payment. Invoices are issued monthly and paid in advance or in arrears, by bank transfer or by a payment link on your invoice. Families outside Nigeria may be invoiced in pounds or US dollars.
- Late payment. If an invoice is unpaid 14 days after its due date, we may pause lessons until it is settled.
- Cancelling a lesson. Please give at least 24 hours’ notice. Lessons cancelled with 24 hours’ notice can be rescheduled within the same month. Lessons cancelled with less notice, or missed, may be charged in full, because your child’s tutor has kept the time free.
- If we cancel. If we or your child’s tutor cancel a lesson, we will reschedule it or credit it to your next invoice.
- Lateness. If your child joins late, the lesson may still end at the scheduled time.
- Home Learning. The Home Learning fee is charged monthly while your child’s account is active.
- Refunds. Prepaid lessons not yet delivered when you end your enrolment with proper notice (section 6) are credited or refunded.
5. Lessons, accounts, conduct and safeguarding
- Equipment. Your child needs a laptop or tablet with a camera, microphone and a stable internet connection, in a quiet space for lessons.
- Accounts. We provide logins for Home Learning and parent progress links. Please keep them private and tell us straight away if you think someone else has access.
- Respect. We expect courtesy from everyone: tutors, children and parents. We may end lessons if behaviour towards a tutor is abusive or unsafe.
- Safeguarding. Our tutors are vetted and follow our safeguarding policy. Tutors contact families only through Haskap-approved channels. If a tutor ever acts in a way that worries you, tell us at once.
- Parents nearby. For younger children, we ask that a parent or carer is at home during lessons.
- Recordings. Neither side may record lessons without the other’s agreement.
- Direct arrangements. To protect families and tutors, please do not arrange private lessons directly with a Haskap tutor while enrolled with us.
6. Ending your enrolment
You may end your child’s enrolment at any time with 2 weeks’ written notice by WhatsApp or email. We may end it with the same notice, or immediately if fees remain unpaid or these terms are seriously broken. Any prepaid, undelivered lessons are then credited or refunded.
7. Our materials
Our lessons, worksheets, reports, website content, logo and brand belong to Haskap Learning or our partners. You and your child may use them for your child’s own learning. Please do not share, copy or sell them.
8. Our responsibility to you
We provide our services with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for losses caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as internet or power failures, or problems with third-party platforms. Our total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid us in the three months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under consumer protection law or our liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the new version here and tell enrolled families about important changes at least two weeks before they apply.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If a disagreement arises, we will first try to settle it fairly by talking with you.
